Horter Investment Management and LJM Preservation and Growth Fund Investment Loss Recovery

Have you lost money investing in the LJM Preservation and Growth Fund through Horter Investment Management?  Our securities and investment fraud law firm currently represents investors who lost money investing in the LJM Preservation and Growth Fund through recommendations from their advisors at Horter Investment Management in Westminster, Colorado.

The LJM Preservation and Growth Fund, declined over 55% in one day, on February 5, 2018.  However, the LJM Preservation and Growth Fund did not report its losses until the next day on February 6, which caused it to fall another 50%, or over 80% in a two-day span.  The fund was purported to use market volatility to benefit its investors, but clearly it failed.  The fund suffered losses because of use of leverage, margin, and option trading.  For example, the LJM Fund sold naked put options on S&P 500 futures, and it also did so with leverage and margin, which exacerbated the risks of the fund.

Investment Advisors and their representatives have a duty to perform research (or due diligence) on investments before they recommend them to their clients.  If the advisors fail to do so, they could be liable for investor losses.  Our firm is investigating whether Horter advisors, including those in the Westminster, Colorado office of Horter, failed to perform adequate due diligence on the LJM Preservation and Growth Fund, and whether these advisors handled discretionary trading accounts in a manner consistent with securities laws and regulations.
