Have you invested with financial advisor Bryon Martinsen, formerly with Centaurus Financial, in Kings Park, New York? In August 2022, FINRA suspended Martinsen from the securities industry for 15 months and fined him $10,000.

FINRA began its investigation regarding claims that Martinsen engaged in private securities transactions between 2014 and 2021. In particular, Martinsen is believed to have sold $1.1 million worth of investments that were not approved by his brokerage firm, Centaurus Financial. Martinsen has also been the subject of at least 11 customer complaints, and many of those involve real estate investments and private placements.

From 1999 to August 2022, Bryon Martinsen had his securities license with Centaurus Financial. He worked in Kings Park, New York. Martinsen was also terminated by another firm in 1999 regarding claims that he engaged in undisclosed outside business activities in viatical investments.

FINRA Rule 3280 provides that advisors must disclose all investments that they sell to their brokerage firms, like Centaurus Financial. If the advisor fails to do so, they violate Rule 3280. Moreover, firms must reasonably supervise their advisors pursuant to Rule 3110.
