Sims & Co., a Fairfield, Connecticut-based securities brokerage firm. The SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) brought a regulatory action against Herbert J. Sims & Co., making allegations that it sold risky and complex variable interest rate structured products to 45 clients between January 2015 and April 2018 from Herbert J. Sims’ Boca Raton, Florida office. The SEC alleged that the variable interest rate structured products were unsuitable for the investors.

To settle these allegations, Herbert J. Sims & Co. agreed to pay a $250,000 fine.
