McSween had drawn the attention of FINRA after he resigned by his former brokerage firm, Ameriprise Financial Services. He was “permitted to resign” by Ameriprise in February 2021 regarding undisclosed outside business activities and business relationships with clients.

Edric McSween had worked at an office in Greenbelt, Maryland. He had been licensed with Ameriprise Financial Services from 1993 to February 2021. He has also been the subject of six tax liens and a civil judgment.

McSween is an associated person of a FINRA member. Therefore, he had a duty to abide by FINRA rules, including FINRA Rule 3270 which requires associated persons to get prior approval, from their brokerage firm, of any business activity beyond the scope of such activities with the brokerage firm. Moreover, Ameriprise has an obligation to reasonably supervise their advisors’ conduct.
