According to FINRA’s BrokerCheck, he has been the subject of six customer complaints, five of which have been made within the last five years. A 2021 complaint alleges losses in a guaranteed investment contract (or GIC) issued by Northstar Bermuda. A 2023 complaint also alleges losses in the GIC recommended by Benitez, and a 2024 complaint alleges losses in annuities.

Suntrust Investment Services is a FINRA member firm and has obligations to perform due diligence on any products that it sells. If the investment was not properly vetted and caused investor losses, Suntrust Investment Services could be liable for customer losses.
