Douglas Leone, formerly with Salomon Whitney Financial, Barred from the Securities Industry
Have you lost money with financial advisor Douglas Leone of Melville, New York? We are continuing our investigation into allegations made by FINRA, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, against Douglas A. Leone. FINRA barred Leone from the securities industry after he failed to respond to a FINRA investigation. FINRA was investigating Leone for allegations that he engaged in excessive trading or churning while he was associated with his former brokerage firm, Salomon Whitney Financial. Leone was also alleged to have borrowed money from clients, which generally is not allowed in the securities industry.
Douglas Leone was a financial advisor and registered representative of Salomon Whitney Financial from March 2013 to March 2017. He worked at a branch office in Melville, New York. Douglas Leone has been the subject of at least seven customer complaints, and he also was the subject of a FINRA complaint in 2014 regarding unsuitable sales of exchange traded funds (ETFs) and exchange traded notes (ETNs).
Brokerage firms like Salomon Whitney Financial have a responsibility to adequately supervise all representatives who are registered through their firm. Brokerage firms also must take steps to ensure that their financial advisors follow all securities rules and regulations, as well as internal firm policies. When brokerage firms fail to adequately supervise their registered representatives, they may be liable for investment losses sustained by customers.
