Laura Ortega Shean, formerly with LPL Financial, Barred from Securities Industry

 

Have you lost money with financial advisor Laura Ortega Shean of Medford, Oregon?  We are investigating allegations made by FINRA, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, against Laura Ortega Shean. FINRA barred Ortega Shean from the securities industry regarding allegations that she stole or converted $124,000 from a customer during 2017.

 

Laura Ortega Shean was a financial advisor and registered representative of LPL Financial from 1999 to November 2017.  She worked at a branch office in Medford, Oregon.  Ortega Shean has been the subject of regulatory action by the Oregon Division of Financial Regulation, and she was also terminated by LPL Financial.

 

Brokerage firms like LPL Financial have a responsibility to adequately supervise all representatives who are registered through their firm.  Brokerage firms also must take steps to ensure that their financial advisors follow all securities rules and regulations, as well as internal firm policies.  When brokerage firms fail to adequately supervise their registered representatives, they may be liable for investment losses sustained by customers.
