Allegations of Customer Complaint

According to FINRA’s BrokerCheck, a former customer of Roberts filed a complaint with FINRA in May 2025. The customer alleged that Roberts sold them private placements and real estate investments (REITs) that were risky and unsuitable. The customer alleged that the losses from the products sold by Roberts lost over $2.2 million. The alleged conduct started in 2013.

Michael Roberts’ Securities Background

Mike Roberts was a representative of Triad Advisors from July 2017 to April 2023. He also worked with Coastal Equities and Centaurus Financial. He is now registered with The Strategic Financial Alliance.

Roberts worked in offices Eugene, Oregon; Gilbert, Arizona; and Chandler, Arizona. Roberts has also been the subject of a 2010 customer complaint which settled for about $85,000 and another complaint in 2018 that settled for $7,500.

Are the Brokerage Firms Liable for this?

FINRA rules provide that advisors like Mike Roberts have to make investment recommendations that are suitable for the customer, based on the customer’s age, risk tolerance, investment objectives, and financial resources. Roberts’ brokerage firms could be liable if they failed to reasonably supervise Roberts’ conduct.

Former Coastal Equities Advisor Lorraine Gallette Subject of Several Complaints

EL DORADO SPRINGS, MISSOURI

Did you invest in alternative investments with financial advisor Lorraine Gallette in El Dorado Springs, Missouri? The securities and investment fraud law firm of Israels & Neuman is looking into Lorraine Gallette, an advisor formerly with Coastal Equities and Moloney Securities.

Gallette and Coastal Equities have been the subject of five customer complaints since August 2020. Each of the complaints makes allegations that she sold unsuitable investments in private placements, limited partnerships, and real estate investments. Two of the five cases have already settled.

Lorraine Gallette was licensed with Coastal Equities from July 2013 to January 2021 and with Moloney Securities from January 2021 to April 2022. She worked in El Dorado Springs, Missouri.

When financial advisors recommend investments to their customers, they must make sure the investment is suitable for the customer. A failure to do so would violate FINRA Rule 2111 and could lead to liability for the advisor and/or brokerage firm.
