Allegations Against Robin V. Platt

FINRA’s BrokerCheck discloses that Robin Platt has recently been the subject of a customer complaint filed in FINRA arbitration.  The complaint alleges that Platt recommended an investment in an annuity called Northstar Financial Services, which is based out of Bermuda.  It further alleges that Platt represented that Northstar Bermuda was a “secure” investment, and that the investor lost $500,000 in Northstar Bermuda.

Background on Robin Platt

Robin V. Platt was licensed with Hancock Whitney Investment Services from May 2013 to August 2022 at a Covington, Louisiana office.  She later worked for Cetera Investment Services in New Orleans.  The advisor also has two prior customer complaints from 2017 and 2021.

Can Hancock Whitney Investment Services Be Liable for Customer Investment Losses?

FINRA Rule 3110 requires securities brokerage firms like Hancock Whitney Investment Services to supervise the activity of its advisors.  Hancock Whitney Investment Services could be responsible for investor losses if it failed to reasonably supervise Robin Platt.
