Gary Costello Fired by Truist Investment Services

PALM BEACH, FLORIDA

Are you a present or former customer of Gary Costello, formerly with Truist Investment Services, in Palm Beach, Florida and also formerly with Oppenheimer in Boca Raton? FINRA recently reported that Gary Costello was fired by Truist Investment Services in August 2023. Costello had been licensed with Truist Investment Services between November 2022 and August 2023. Costello also worked with Oppenheimer from August 2019 to November 2022.

Gary S. Costello’s BrokerCheck report (see link below) discloses that “the firm investigated various trade corrections and margin activity in [Costello’s] personal account as well as his clients accounts”. Costello has also been the subject of five customer complaints. The most recent complaint was filed against Oppenheimer, alleging over $2 million in losses. The Oppenheimer complaint makes allegations concerning stocks, corporate bonds, options, unit investment trusts (UITs), and master limited partnerships (MLPs).

Gary Costello had a duty to follow FINRA rules while working with Truist Investment Services and Oppenheimer. This includes FINRA Rule 2111, which requires that advisors make suitable investment recommendations. If that rule was violated, the firms could be liable for investment losses.

Former Truist Investment Services Advisor Simon Joseph Subject of Recent Complaint

ALEXANDRIA, VIRGINIA

Are you a current or former client of financial advisor Simon Joseph from Alexandria, Virginia? Israels & Neuman is reviewing claims made against by former customers of Simon Joseph, who worked with Truist Investment Services from February 2021 to March 2022 and with BB&T Securities from 2016 to February 2021.

According to his BrokerCheck report, a customer complaint was filed in FINRA arbitration in April 2023. The complaint alleges that he engaged in unsuitable investment recommendations and misrepresentations in a managed account. The customer alleged losses over $250,000.

Simon Michel Joseph worked in an Alexandria, Virginia office. He is now affiliated with Momentum Independent Network. He was fired by Morgan Stanley in August 2016 regarding allegations of exercising discretion in customer accounts without written authorization to do so. He was also allowed to voluntarily resign by Truist Investment Services.

Securities broker-dealers must reasonably supervise their advisors. If the firms fail to do so, they could be liable for investment losses.

Advisor ROBERT PATERSON of Truist Investment is SUSPENDED

Have you lost money with financial advisor Robert Paterson, formerly with Truist Investment Services and BB&T Securities in Jupiter, Florida? We are looking into allegations made against Robert Paterson. Paterson was suspended from the securities industry by FINRA after he failed to respond to an investigation. FINRA is investigating allegations that an investor gave him $60,000 to invest in an annuity, but the annuity company never received the check.

Robert Paterson was with Truist Investment Services from February 2021 to May 2021. He was also with BB&T Securities from January 2018 to February 2021. He has worked at branch offices in Jupiter, Florida. Paterson was also the subject of two customer complaints.

Brokerage firms like Truist Investment Services have a responsibility to adequately supervise all representatives who are registered through their firm.
