Garrett Moretz with Lifemark Securities Charged by SEC

MOORESVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA Did you lose money with financial advisor Garrett Moretz with Lifemark Securities in Mooresville, North Carolina? He was recently charged with fraud by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

The SEC filed a complaint against this advisor, alleging that he repeatedly misrepresented the risks of investing in GWG L Bonds. Mr. Moretz represented to customers that the L Bonds were “guaranteed” and safe. GWG filed for bankruptcy in 2022, wiping out nearly all of investors’ interest in the L bonds.

Garrett Moretz has been an affiliate of Lifemark Securities since May 2017. He worked in a Mooresville, North Carolina office. He has also been the subject of four customer complaints since 2022, all of which involve the sales of GWG products.

PAHRUMP, NEVADA Did you invest in GWG L bonds through Douglas Nelson, formerly with Kingswood Capital Partners? The securities and investment fraud law firm of Israels & Neuman is looking into claims made against the advisor, who was licensed with Kingswood Capital Partners from July 2018 to October 2022.

An arbitration claim was filed against his brokerage firm in January 2024, alleging that a customer lost $250,000 in GWG. The complaint alleges that the investment in GWG was unsuitable.

According to FINRA, Douglas Duane Nelson worked in Pahrump, Nevada and has been in the securities industry since 2003. He is now affiliated with LPL Financial in Pahrump, and also operates On-Target Planning.

Debbie Cavanaugh with Centaurus Financial Investigated by SEC

KALISPELL, MONTANA

Did you lose money with financial advisor Debbie Cavanaugh with Centaurus Financial in Kalispell, Montana? She is also known as Debbie Lee McKenna Cavanaugh and was recently the subject of an investigation by the SEC for potentially violating Regulation Best Interest.

The Securities and Exchange Commission alleged that Cavanaugh may have failed to comply with the care obligation of Regulation Best Interest while she was affiliated with Centaurus Financial. The SEC mentioned that the product involved was “debt-corporate” but did not specify if GWG L Bonds were involved. Additionally, she has been the subject of two other customer complaints involving the sales of real estate investment trusts (or REITs) with prior firms.

Debbie Cavanaugh has been an affiliate of Centaurus Financial since February 2020. She was previously registered with Independent Financial Group and Securities America and worked in a Kalispell, Montana office.
